About Us

Mission Statement

The Ericka Solis Foundation was created and dedicated to the memory of Ericka Solis.

Our mission is to share our sister’s story and raise awareness with facts about leukemia..

Ericka was the youngest daughter of the Solis Family, was born on October 26, 1990. She was 18 years old when she died of complications from leukemia September 10, 2009. Prior to her passing, Ericka had no symptoms, we were unaware she had leukemia. Ericka passed away three days after her Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) diagnosis. Her sudden and tragic loss inspired us to learn more about this disease and raise awareness in our city.

The Ericka Solis Foundation was created along with "Constellations"; an art magazine that showcases photography and original artwork to raise leukemia awareness. Over thirty local and international artists and photographers contributed their work. The magazine was sold at a release party, “Rock Against Leukemia”, which featured ten bands who played during a two day event. Other events include, “Pachanga Musical Contra la Leucemia” which featured a performance by La Magiztral Sonora and two comedy nights at the El Paso Comic Strip. All proceeds were donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

These events were sponsored by various local businesses who donated to the foundation and allowed us to use their logos.

In 2010, we partnered with the Albuquerque, New Mexico branch of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and have participated in health fairs at the El Paso Community College (EPCC) and Spooktacular at the El Paso Coliseum, among other health related events in the El Paso, Texas area.

Members of the Ericka Solis Foundation attended Light the Night in Albuquerque, New Mexico where we hosted a memory tent for Ericka Solis. In 2017 we attended a Light the Night event in Tucson, Arizona.

The Constellations Magazine Volume II was designed as an online magazine and gallery to expand on the magazine's audience and reach during this digital age.
